Week8!!

OMG ITS TEST WEEK!!! We had a test on advance English on Monday. Fortunately for me, I found the test quite simple and expect to score high marks for it. We were tested on everything that has been taught the past 8 weeks and I manage to remember almost everything that have been taught. For the essay part of the test, we were asked to write a compare and contrast paragraph on the light up at orchard road and in marina bay. It was a simple essay and I hope to score high in this test. For the rest of the lesson in the week, mr gunna manage to finish everything on paragraph and started teaching us how to write a good essay on Friday. He taught us the thesis sentence in the introduction paragraph and all. Thesis sentence was hard to understand at first but as the lesson went on I manage to catch the jizz of it. I hope in the next 2 weeks I would be able to write an almost perfect essay that would be fit to call it a diploma student essay haha!!!

week7!!

Compare and contrast paragraph!!! This is what we were taught this week. It was very interesting to me as I love comparing and contrasting things. We were taught about the two different ways we can compare and contrast. First it is by blocks and next it is point by point. We were asked to compare and contrast Hawaii and Alaska I found it quite simple to do as I love comparing stuff haha. I hope this week will turn out to be a better week as I had a dreadful week last week. CYA next week

week 6!!

ITS SPRING ROLL!!!! Haha this week we were taught how to write progressive paragraph we were shown a video on a Vietnamese guy teaching how to make Vietnamese spring rolls. And again we were asked by our lovely mr guna to write a progressive paragraph on this. I think this is quite simple than expected. Other than that it have been a really dull week for me as many things have been happening this week. Arguments with group members problems with classmates and many more haha. But its life we have to buck up and carry on with it as the world waits for no one. Haha..

week 5!!

This week was a very short week as in advance English the only thing I can recall was when mr guna showed us a movie called night at the museum. He than ask us to write a paragraph describing the museum as we were taught description paragraph that week. It was a very nice movie on a whole and it was good practice for us. Personally I feel I am very weak at describing stuff even though I have a decent command on the English language I feel this would probably be my weakest link as I find it really hard to express my emotions and all haha.

Week 4!!!

ITS WEEK FOUR HAHA TIME FLYS SO FAST!! Work work work that’s all it have been this term. Projects after projects I hope they would be up to standard and decent. Incoherent, this is the word that my friend from USA used to describe me haha. Its because my standard of English is nothing compared to theirs even though I feel mine is good but I guess we all aren’t perfect. For this week advance English class we were taught about coherence in our paragraphs and transition signals. For this I feel that its quite easy as coherence in a paragraph is quite easy to understand it’s the same for transition signals. We were taught about this in secondary school but in shatec we were taught the scientific way of essay writing haha. Pretty cool ya?? Hehe ok will blog more next week

Hawaii vs Alaska

Hawaii and Alaska are both nice places to visit with a few differences. For one is its accommodations, Alaska offers quality hotels with a basic to luxury needs. On the other hand in Hawaii, there are a wide range of excellent hotels and condo from luxury to budget prices. The climate of the two states are also different. In Hawaii, it often rains in the summer and is hot and humid. While in Alaska, it seldom rains during the summer and there are little or no humidity in Alaska and the temperature is perfect in the summer. Lastly, both of them offer different type of natural beauty. Alaska offers chugach and mount mckinley and glaciers in Alaska. However Hawaii offers volcano nation park with canons and beautiful beaches. Both states are different in some way or another and are two interesting places to visit.

Vietnamese spring roll

First, put two cups of oil in your frying wok.
Once the oil starts bubbling you can add the spring roll in the wok.
When they are golden brown turn them over.
After that, drip them dry on a rack to get the excess oil out.
Meanwhile, lay a piece of lettuce on a plate and put the spring roll on top of it
Finally, serve the spring roll with lettuce and a dipping sauce.

WEEK 3!!!!

WOOT! It is the third week of school and everything is starting to take its shape the subjects and teachers for example Advance English in college writing by MR GUNA!!! We have been taught various ways to improve our writing skills from something as simple as what should a paragraph consist to writing a narrative paragraph on the movie City of god. For me i have pick up those skills and i am trying my best to put all this skills pick up in my day to day essays. For example i did not know at first that writing a paragraph requires sections. Sections such as topic sentence, supporting sentence, and lastly a concluding sentence. I feel all this would improve my writing by a fair bit and would help me push up my grades in some classes such as housekeeping as we have a 1000 word report that we have to hand up at the end of the term. All in all, i think mr guna have done a great job so far in imparting some of his essay writing skills on us with a bit of luck i might be just like him one day

Working life

Many people use to tell me that working life was hard, at first i did not believe it but now i do. I have been working as a waiter in raffles hotel for about 2 years now and i love the working environment as it was very relaxing and working there is enjoyable. What made me realize how tough working life really is, was when i was attached to park royal for the interpol general assembly event which happens yearly. Some people that i have met over there are really nice but some are just ignorant and full of arrogance. For example we are only student and we are being treated by some of the police officers like we are working directly under them they commanded us like we were in the police force which in my opinion should never happen. A series of events happen while i was working for iga. Ranging from getting scolded because we took extra food to even hotel staff dumping their workload on us. What really pissed me off was hotel staff dumping their work load on us. Simple staff such as bringing the guest to the money changer to change money they dump to us and where there is a fuck up we get blame. Even the police made mistakes their arrival timing were all screwed up the timing were not accurate and the airport did not call us to inform us if the delegates have touched down. From those series of event i finally realize how tough working life is.

FIRST POST

Its the start of the new term, and everything is looking great. New teachers, new subjects everything is new. I guess it would be a fresh start for me. One class that i was pretty much interested would be advance english as i love the english language i think that this language is impressive as learning new words always gets me excited for example arduous, inconsequential and many others.. i have alot of friends who are from usa and compared to them my english is nothing. Mr guna was our advance english and college writing teacher as well as our host mentor. From the moment he started talking, i liked the way he does stuff straight forward and interesting. On our first class, he made us go do a treasure hunt this got us all excited as everyone was not expecting this. He made us go around the school searching for items such as the guard house, red shirt, toilet bowl ( this was super funny) and many more. He also taught us the fundamental of writing in his later lessons, he started by teaching us how to write a paragraph simple things that actually made a huge difference in writing an essay and i think this would help me a lot in my future assignments. Hence i am looking forward to what shatec has installed for us this term.
